British indie icon Ian Brown is back in the charts with his new album ‘My Way’ breaking into the Top Ten.
Ian Brown is no stranger to chart success. The one time Stone Roses frontman released his first album twenty years ago, and in the ensuing period has enjoyed more ups and downs than a bus ride in Switzerland.
However the singer seems to be turning nostalgic on his new album. Ian Brown makes repeated references to The Stones Roses on ‘My Way’ and recently revealed that he was actually offered a song by former sparring partner John Squire.
Turning the offer down, Ian Brown decided to do things his way. It seems to have paid off with the singer’s new album racing into the Top Ten at number eight.
Ahead of the indie icon lies some strong competition. This week’s number one belongs to emo-rockers Paramore with their latest effort ‘Brand New Eyes’. Beating off a late surge from Madonna’s new compilation, the ‘Material Girl’ had to make do with second best.
Ginger rasta Newton Faulkner sits at number three with his new album ‘Rebuilt By Humans’. The laid back star has become a household name due to his easy-going songwriting and flaming dreadlocks.
Teignmouth stadium-prog trio Muse fall to number five with their new album ‘The Resistance’. A bombastic return, it has topped the charts in more than a dozen countries around the world.
The current UK Top Ten albums are:
1. Paramore – ‘Brand New Eyes’
