Huge New Factory Records Boxset, Exhibition Confirmed

To celebrate the label's 40th anniversary...

A huge new Factory Records exhibition has been confirmed, alongside a new box set.

The seminal Manchester label celebrates its 40th anniversary this year, and it's potent catalogue remains a perennial source of inspiration.

A new box set aims to bring together the first 10 records and objects from the Factory catalogue, with Use Hearing Protection: Factory Records 1978-1979 featuring facsimile editions of the first 10 numbered Factory items.

Limited to just 4000 copies worldwide, the box set will include four vinyl records, three posters, a short film, Factory stationery and an egg-timer design.

Meanwhile 2009 4CD box set Factory: Communications 1978-92 will be expanded for an anniversary re-issue, featuring 63 tracks spread over eight newly remastered vinyl albums.

A deep dive into the label's catalogue, it matches iconic names against rarities and some lesser heralded aspects of the Factory story.

Alongside this, new exhibition Use Hearing Protection FAC 1 – 50 / 40 showcases Factory Records' iconic graphic design, featuring album artwork, posters, and more.

Held as part of this year's London Design Festival, the exhibition launches on September 13th and has been curated by Jon Savage and Mat Bancroft – an expanded version of this exhibition hits Manchester in 2020.
