The latest track to be taken from Hudson Mohawke's second LP 'Lantern' has just been given the visual treatment. Directed by LuckyMe's Dom Flannigan and visual artist Nic Hamilton, the video is a beautifully-lit trip cruising over New York's skyline, informed by early rave aesthetics.
Created as part of Channel 4's Random Acts film series, which has seen filmmakers and Warp artists teaming up, the video was "inspired by some tear-out Jeff Mills offset with those minimalist classical arpeggios," Dom Flannigan has said.
"When considering an associated film I thought of classic rave visuals and CG stock art of the late '90s where the grid of the city would be superimposed with circuit boards and processors," he continues. "Here we updated it for 2015, commissioning our own 4K helicopter shoot over Manhattan which Nic Hamilton treated, placing in a CG environment that evokes Philip Glass '1000 Airplanes On The Roof'."
It's a bit of a treat for the eyes.
