Given his effortless rise, you could be forgiven for thinking that Hozier had huge backing.
The reality, though, is somewhat different. Relying on the strength of his material, the songwriter has staunchly refused to move from his roots.
Completing work on his debut album, the material was laid down in Hozier's own attic with a little help from Rob Kirwan.
Set to arrive on September 22nd, pre-orders are being taken now. Self-titled, 'Hozier' is set to feature breakthrough cut 'Take Me To Church'.
