Hotline TNT Impress With Shoegaze Hymn ‘Protocol’

"This song is about falling on a sword..."

New York’s Hotline TNT has shared new song ‘Protocol’.

The project is helmed by Will Anderson, veteran of a few excellent endeavours over the years. Spearheading Hotline TNT, the band have just signed to Third Man Records with new material – and live shows – incoming.

Hitting London’s Lexington last month, you can expect a return visit from Hotline TNT in November, playing a flurry of UK shows. New single ‘Protocol’ leads the way, a torn ‘n’ tattered slice of indie pop with some serious shoegaze overtones.

An intriguing start – Third Man have released some fantastic shoegaze comps in the past – ‘Protocol’ revels in both sound and precision, with the underlying song pulling at the heartstrings. Reference points could include prime era Teenage Fanclub or Eric’s Trip, with Will Anderson commenting:

“This song is about falling on a sword — sometimes you just gotta hold an L even when in your heart of hearts you know it’s not fair. Saving the relationship is worth taking the blame now and again.”

There’s a cool video for ‘Protocol’ online, too, directed by Fiona Kane. The film maker adds:

“It’s a rock n roll push and pull silent comedy for summer. The most important parts of summer are beating the heat and listening to rock music.”

Tune in now.
