Hot Chip have shared their buoyant, exuberant new single ‘Eleanor’.
The band’s new album ‘Freakout/Release’ is out on August 19th, and it will be accompanied by a series of dates at London’s O2 Academy Brixton.
A band who simply never ever miss, Hot Chip tap into the buoyant mood of the nation – farewell, BoJo! – with new disco-fuelled burner ‘Eleanor’, a moment of unbridled joy from the group.
Online now, it’s all swirling electronics that lead to utter delirium, with Alexis Taylor’s enchanting voice singing: “Even if you believe that there’s nothing more / I feel heaven knocking at our door / Eleanor – evermore…”
Alexis Taylor says of the song: “It’s about the world smashing into you, waves crashing into you, all-encompassing pain, and how you have to walk through it. The verses are about separation when families are divided against their will. It’s about strong friends. It’s also about Samuel Beckett giving Andre The Giant lifts to school, and about how Beckett must have learned a lot from Andre’s wisdom.”
