Goth-garage types The Horrors are due to release their second album soon, and the band have revealed that much of the new material was inspired by ‘Pret A Manger’.
Clad in black, The Horrors were a fearsome proposition on their entry into the London live scene. Surrounded by smoke and grinding out a ferocious garage racket, the band swiftly became one of the most talked about in the capital.
However the group’s debut album didn’t live up to expectations and The Horrors retreated to a world of side projects to decide their next move. The band also run a club night in London, while two members formed the electronic group Spider And The Flies.
The Horrors are due to return soon with their new album ‘Primary Colours’. In a new interview with NME singer Faris Badwan claims that the album was inspired by sandwich retailer ‘Pret A Manger’.
“Tom recently moved near a Pret A Manger and discovered they throw out all the uneaten sandwiches at the end of the day,” Badwan explained.
“Upon making this discovery he decided to give up spending money on food and instead buy synths.”
Badwan also revealed that comeback single ‘Sea Within A Sea’ will not be released on vinyl. “It’s such a long song that you can’t really get it on seven-inch without the sound quality being fucked,” he said.
The Horrors release ‘Primary Colours’ soon.
