Hongza has shared his moving new EP ‘Coming Of Age’.
Out now, it’s be trailed by some vital singles, with the songwriter’s sound – opaque at times, often minimalist, but startlingly inventive – shot through with emotion.
Exploring his past, and unlocking his identity, Hongza uses music as a space for honesty, allowing him to most beyond long-held emotions.
New EP ‘Coming Of Age’ grants him a broader palette to work from, with each song speaking to the next. A profound listen, he’s also shared a video for ‘I Hate My Skin’ – a potent depiction of growing up, and being ‘othered’ at school.
Hongza comments…
“Growing up I always felt like an outcast. People in school would bully me because of my race. I hated my ethnic identity so much that I would alter everything about myself not to be Vietnamese/Chinese. ‘I Hate My Skin’ is my apology to my younger self for having to experience that kind of trauma and my it gets better song…”
Tune in now.
