London indie-folk troupe The Holloways have confirmed details of their long awaited new album ‘No Smoke, No Mirrors’.
London seems to be filled to the brim with proud cockneys, eager to take inspiration from their surroundings. Formed on Holloway road, a group of young musicians took the logical step and named themselves The Holloways.
Earning a cult following with their sizzling live performances, the band nonetheless found a record deal hard to come by. Entering the Road To V competition, The Holloways lost out to Bombay Bicycle Club.
Eventually being snapped up the group’s single ‘Generator’ became an indie smash. Debut album ‘So This Is Great Britain?’ mixed indie with folk in a grand old mash up that saw fans pleased and critics salivating.
Since then, however, The Holloways have had a run of incredible bad luck. The band stored their equipment in a pub in Camden, which burnt to the ground taking their kit with them. Thankfully no one in the band was hurt, although the group did have to start again from scratch.
Departing from their label the band now lacked both financial support and instruments. Working hard, The Holloways soon crafted a new set and began attracting the attention of record companies.
New album ‘No Smoke, No Mirrors’ is a testament to their perseverance. Losing none of their jaunty pop sensibilities the band have matured. Comeback single ‘Jukebox Sunshine’ is a feel good anthem, but the song is matched by several other hymns to summer fun.
The Holloways are due to release their new album ‘No Smoke, No Mirrors’ on October 5th.
