HMV To Give Away Vinyl

At the re-launch of their London store...

HMV is set to give away free vinyl at the re-launch of its Oxford Street store this week.

HMV is changing. The chain almost collapsed earlier this year, with only a last minute takeover deal from Hilco preserving the bare bones of the historic retailer.

A number of stores were closed, but across the summer Hilco began to unveil their plans. All nine FOPP stores were to be preserved, while HMV itself would get back to its core identity.

HMV's flagship store on Oxford Street will re-open this week, and to celebrate fans will be given free vinyl. Opening at 8am this morning (October 14th) the first 300 fans into the store will be able to claim a seven inch promo featuring material from The Beatles’ ‘Live On Air Volume 2'.

On Tuesday, HMV will give away 100 special coloured vinyl copies of Elvis Presley’s self-titled debut album, while Wednesday brings 100 clear copies of New Order's first album 'Movement'. Finally, Thursday sees fans being offered one of 30 promotional 78RPM ten inch Robbie Williams promos.

Happy shopping!
