Hiro Ama and Keeley Forsyth combine on new song ‘Billowing’.
Electronic composer Hiro Ama will release debut solo album ‘Music For Peace And Harmony’ on October 4th, a space of calm and solace amid a threatening world. Aiming to tap into his bedrock, the music was largely sculpted on an obscure 1980s Japanese synthesiser called the Waraku – which literally translates to “peace and harmony”.
Set to play London’s Servants Jazz Quarters on September 18th, Hiro Ama has just shared something new, a soothing, transformative collaborative with Keeley Forsyth.
Perhaps best known for her incredible acting work, Keeley Forsyth is also a powerful musical voice. The two interlock perfectly, with new song ‘Billowing’ blending superb, in-depth electronics with her emotive delivery.
Of the collaboration Himo comments:
I wrote the music in August 2023, and I remember the hot and dry weather in the UK, which reminded me of a childhood summer in Japan. The field recording in the track is from a hot summer in Galicia, Spain, where I played at a festival a few years ago. The tune not only reflects my memories of those summers but also brings together different places and times into a cohesive musical memory.
Keeley adds…
I worked with Hiro’s open instrumentation and imagined being in a field – as a worker – using hands and senses to bring the narrative to life. I don’t usually work with melodies that feel this good, so it was an opportunity for me to expand my pallet.
Tune in now.
