News is coming in that Hippos in Tanks co-founder and operating CEO Barron Machat has died.
The label was founded some five years ago, and in that time has become one of underground electronic music's most revered hubs.
Releasing music from the likes of Dean Blunt, James Ferraro, Autre Ne Veut and more, it's willingness to sidestep trends and do its own thing turned the imprint into a voice of trust.
No word yet on a possible cause, but – with tributes emerging from friends and colleagues – this looks to be fairly definitive.
Enormously sad news, our thoughts are with his loved ones.
Rip Barron Machat. Young God. Rip.
