HiFi Sean, David McAlmont Unite For ‘Sun Come Up’

Plus, a new album is on its way...

One is an eclectic producer who sits on the environs of pop culture. The other is one of the most sumptuous UK soul vocalists of his generation. Now, the Venn diagram between HiFi Sean & David McAlmont might not coalesce perfectly, but somehow the chemistry is there – in spades.

The pair’s first collaborative album ‘Happy Ending’ landed last year, a cult success that blends HiFi Sean’s colourful, creative production with David McAlmont’s angelic voice. Emboldened by the reception, the two have already crafted a follow-up, and it’ll be released later this year.

Out on August 16th via Plastique Recordings, ‘Daylight’ is available to pre-order now, and it’ll be available as a download, on CD, and vinyl LP – plus, there’s also a deluxe limited edition Neon Orange edition, with a free orange flexi-disc with the track ‘Orange Sunshine’, a signed art print, and a downloadable lyric book. One for collectors!

It all starts with bold new song ‘Sun Come Up’, a moment of joyous transgression that seems to allow the pair to begin on a note of optimism. Looking to the future, it finds the pair leaving behind creative boundaries, and working with total freedom.

Hifi Sean comments…

With David’s writing it feels like he is taking the listener musically through the different stages of a sunrise with shades of yellow , orange and red. I am chronically colourblind so this concept of a song being wrapped in colour is equal parts anxiety and joy for me.

In a way I am having fun with my disability on this single and album associating sound with my colourblind vision.

Tune in now.
