Genre-blitzing newcomer HAWA has shared new song ‘Progression’.
The songwriter has built an identity across a flurry of releases, building to her incoming debut album ‘HADJA BANGOURA’. A work built in honour of her grandmother, HAWA uses this as a lens to bring focus to identity, and the multitudinous strands that define us.
Out on November 4th through 4AD, HAWA will touch down in London for a show at vital underground hub Corsica Studios on November 10th. Ahead of this, the multi-hyphenate has shared bold new single ‘Progression’, a real line in the sand for her work.
A moving piano ballad, the slow pace allows HAWA to achieve full expression; a song about heartbreak, and learning to survive, it was produced by Anthoine Walters and WAVES.
The video was written and directed by Alex Huggins, and it opens with HAWA in conversation with long-time friend Telfar Clemens (who is a revered designer in their own right).
A fascinating watch, you can check it out below.
