Has The Woman Who Inspired Pulp’s ‘Common People’ Been Found?

And is she married to the Greek finance minister?

'Common People' was one of the defining songs of the 90s, spinning an intoxicating yarn about the dangers of class tourism.

Pulp's Jarvis Cocker falls for a girl who came from Greece, with a “thirst for knowledge”. Now Greek newspaper the Athens Voice alleges that this girl is in fact Danae Stratou – the wife of Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis.

Stratou seemingly studied at St. Martin's College of Art and Design during the same time frame Jarvis Cocker attended the institute.

It's tenuous, granted, but could well lead to one of pop's all time greatest 'It's A Small World' coincidences.
