Happy Mondays and Rowetta have decided to go their separate ways.
The vocalist has been a key part of the band’s universe for 34 years, an integral aspect of their sound. Now it seems the two parties are to separate, confirming the news on social media.
In a statement shared on both accounts, the news that Rowetta “will no longer be performing with the band” was confirmed.
It adds: “Happy Mondays thank Rowetta for her services and wish her the best for the future.”
Rowetta is a cult heroine in her own right, with a memorable stint on the X Factor combined to a starring role in Factory biopic 24 Hour Party People.
In a personal note to fans, she thanked people for sending “so many beautiful messages” before saying “thanks to everyone for the support and love. I’m really excited for next year… all of it!”
