Halls Exposes The Fragility Of Loss With ‘The Gift’

It's a nuanced, complex, but soulful return...

South London artist Halls has shared his wonderful new single 'The Gift'.

The songwriter is approaching his third album, building a slender but emphatically creative catalogue in the process.

Incoming LP 'Infinite Loss' arrives shortly, with Halls applying typical exactness to his latest endeavour.

New single 'The Gift' is online now, and it's a fastidiously crafted, finely nuanced work, complex but innately soulful.

Lyrically as open as he's ever been, 'The Gift' finds Hall exploring the fragility of loss and the elation that can come with recovery.

Combining those tremulous piano chords with gospel elements and flecks of electronics, 'The Gift' is repaid through frequent listens to unravel its charms.

Halls comments…

‘The Gift is about the different feelings experienced after suffering a loss – the vulnerability and sadness from grief compared to the elation of feeling like you’ve worked through it.

You move through those two states in waves, and the song structure reflects that.
