Metallica, The Stooges and rap legends Run DMC are among the acts nominated for inclusion in the 2009 class of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame, it has been announced.
The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Museum is in Cleveland, Ohio and only submits a handful of entries each year. To even be nominated is an award in itself – The Stooges have been eligible for inclusion for well over a decade yet have been overlooked until now.
The ceremony on April 4th 2009 will include a shortlist containing the afore mentioned acts alongside Jeff Beck, Chic, Wanda Jackson, War, Little Anthony And The Imperials as well as Bobby Womack.
Run DMC are on the list, and the legendary rappers would be only the second hip hop group to gain entry to the Hall Of Fame – after last year’s inductees Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five.
This year’s ceremony is the first to be held in Cleveland, home of the museum, in twelve years and marks the fifth time disco legends Chic have been nominated. In a first for the Hall Of Fame, tickets for the induction event will be made available for the public.
The induction ceremony for the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame takes place in Cleveland, Ohio on April 4th 2009.
