Halima Shares Staggering Return ‘Ways’

Her new EP 'EXU' is incoming...

Halima channels otherworldly R&B forces on new single ‘Ways’.

The songwriter was raised between Lagos and London, with her Nigerian heritage remaining integral to her work. Blending R&B tropes with club production, Halima picks apart the wreckage of this cultural collision, building her own voice anew.

Incoming EP ‘EXU’ lifts its name from Exu (or Eshu, in some places), a Yoruba deity of the “crossroads” – essentially, a meditator between life’s varying forces, and a messenger between humans and gods.

“They are known for being the God of change, chaos, and unpredictability, so they are often misunderstood,” Halima explains. “But they are present in our lives to bring us to better versions of ourselves. This project is about facing Exu and resisting it. Then succumbing and realizing Exu is within you.”

New single ‘Ways’ looks to deeper feelings, a song about love, connection, and how this impacts on your sense of self. Now based in Brooklyn, Halima is a singular performer, with the purring R&B hook –  “You keep me up through the night…” – resonating in your spirit.

A sign of the broader themes of the EP, ‘Ways’ operates as a fine piece of alt-R&B, built by a deeply individual voice.

Tune in now.
