Hak Baker is the latest artist to take part in the Abbey Road Lock-In series.
The famed studio remains a hub for new music, with the Lock-In series providing insight into fresh talent. The latest name on the list is a Clash favourite – East London wordsmith Hak Baker.
Hak’s debut album ‘Worlds End FM’ lands later this year, and his new single ‘Windrush Baby’ is out now. Taking his music into Abbey Road studios, he worked alongside producer Karma Kid to bring his ideas into focus.
The frenetic two-day session took place at Abbey Road’s Gatehouse studio, assisted by Abbey Road engineer Gordon Davidson and senior runner Sarah Meyz.
Working on four songs, a video clip of Hak Baker performing ‘Windrush Baby’ has now been placed online. He comments…
“There are no boxes or limits to work within when it comes to Sam (Karma Kid) and I making music together and that’s the most exciting thing about doing it. We only wanted to use equipment that we could get at Abbey Road – the mic we used for example sounds so crisp and amazing! There’s so much history attached to Abbey Road that I felt that I needed to come here. I want to have my picture on the wall one day.”
Tune in now.
