Hairband’s Helter-Skelter ‘Bubble Sword’ Is A Low Key Gem

Rising five-piece from Glasgow...

One of the secrets behind Glasgow's rampant creativity is that people rarely, if ever, take on just one project.

After all, why be a member of one band when you can tackle five different groups, stretching yourself to the limit?

It's from this ethos that Hairband emerge, a five-piece from Glasgow featuring members of such fine collectives as Spinning Coin, Breakfast Muff, Lush Purr, and Kaputt.

The band's initial recordings have a real charm to them, a kind of helter-skelter dismissal of the rules that recalls The Raincoats, Huggy Bear, or even Life Without Buildings.

A new 12 inch is incoming on Monorail Records, the in-house label of the Glasgow vinyl hub, and you can pre-order it HERE.

Due out on October 19th, the release is trailed by new song 'Bubble Sword', a playful jewel of a track that matches intricate, wiry guitar lines to whispered incantations.

Bubbling outwards, claiming new space as its own, 'Bubble Sword' has a wry, subversive edge that lingers after the final note dissipates.

Tune in now.
