Guns N Roses Prepare New Material

Follow up to 'Chinese Democracy' begins

Guns N Roses are preparing to begin work on their new album, following the release of ‘Chinese Democracy’.

One of the most popular rock outfits of all time, Guns N Roses like to keep fans waiting. At this year’s Reading and Leeds festival the band were extremely late, keeping the audience in suspense for an hour.

Eventually emerging onstage, the wait was nothing compared to the patience shown by fans for new material. Released in ‘Chinese Democracy’ the band’s latest album was a mere 15 years in the works.

Now it seems like Guns N Roses are already beginning a potential follow up – but don’t hold your breath. In a recent interview guitarist DJ Ashba explained that the band are in the planning stages of a new album.

Speaking to RockItOut, the guitarist confirmed: “We’re talking about that right now”.

“We’ve been throwing around a bunch of ideas and it should be good.” Continuing, Guns N Roses guitarist DJ Ashba said: “We’ve got a lot of good stuff on the plate coming out. It won’t take as long – I promise”.

Elsewhere, DJ Ashba explained that Axl Rose had “a lot of good shit up his sleeves” for the proposed new album. “I’m excited to get this next one rolling,” he said. “Axl (Rose) has a lot of good shit up his sleeves, so I’m really excited about it.”

Promising news, but fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Sessions for ‘Chinese Democracy’ took over a decade, with the resultant album so convoluted that some musicians weren’t sure if they were even on there.

However in recent interviews Axl Rose has outlined his plans for a ‘Chinese Democracy’ trilogy. Which of course would take a mere 45 years to complete.
