UK DJ Grooverider has been released from prison in Dubai after serving ten months of a four year sentence for possession of cannabis.
Real name Raymond Bingham, the DJ was arrested in November last year and caught with 2.16 grams of cannbis at Dubai International Airport. Like many middle eastern states, Dubai has strict drug laws and the former radio personality was sentenced to four years in jail.
However after a royal pardon the DJ has been allowed to fly back the UK, where he will spend time with family and friends. In a statement at the time, Grooverider claimed the drugs were in a pocket in an old pocket of trousers and that he had simply to forgot to remove them from his possession. Despite this, the DJ was given a four year sentence in February.
It is not known how Grooverider will celebrate returning home, but it will probably incorporate the pounding drum ‘n’ bass with which he made his name.
