Grinderman are set to collect a number of remixes, demo versions and alternate cuts on ‘Grinderman 2 RMX’ later this year.
The last time ClashMusic caught up with Grinderman, the Australian group placed question marks over their future. Apparently on hiatus, Jim Sclavunos recently explained that the break could well become permanent.
With that in mind, it’s perhaps appropriate that Mute are set to collect together ephemera from the band’s second album. ‘Grinderman 2 RMX’ will be released on March 13th, and contains a number of B-sides, remixes and more.
Most of the material has been released before, with some of the high points including a guest spot from guitarist Robert Fripp (King Crimson, Eno, Bowie) on a re-worked version of ‘Heathen Child’.
A handful of tracks have been exhumed from the vaults, with Mute streaming a Nick Zinner remix. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist was handed the stems to ‘Bellringer Blues’ and responded with a feral re-working.
