Grimes To Re-Issue ‘Geidi Primes’

Ahead of UK tour dates

Grimes is set to re-issue her debut album ‘Geidi Primes’ ahead of some British tour dates in August.

Real name Claire Boucher, Montreal producer Grimes made a big impression with last year’s ‘Geidi Primes’ album. A collection of distorted beats, the LP was released as a download and on a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it run of cassettes.

A playful yet at times challenging listen, ‘Geidi Primes’ slotted in alongside the degraded electronics of SALEM yet retained elements of post-rock. At times bordering on soundscapes, the album was at its best when Grimes pulled the disparate elements together into some superb pop songs.

No Pain In Pop – already home to ClashMusic faves Forest Swords and Echo Lake – is set to re-issues ‘Geidi Primes’ later this summer.

Available on CD and vinyl, the album will no be given a much wider release to coincide with a new UK tour. The most comprehensive visit yet from Grimes, the dates open with an Irish show before touching down in London on August 4th.

Taking place in Hoxton Bar & Kitchen, the tour continues with shows in Glasgow, Manchester and more. A select batch of shows will also feature How To Dress Well, whose ghostly R&B enticed the blogosphere in 2010.

A stunning – and quite distinct – producer in his own right, How To Dress Well should compliment Grimes extremely well. Consider us excited..
