Grimes has labelled her album 'Art Angels' a "piece of crap" while also claiming that it "feels like a stain on my life".
The album was released at the end of 2015, and fused her warehouse electronics with some evocative pop moments.
A dazzling return that was critically praised, 'Art Angels' has been given the revisionist treatment by none other than Clare Boucher herself.
Speaking to Cultured Magazine, Grimes – who now wants to go by the name c – dismissed the record, and showed nothing but contempt for her creation.
“The last album was a piece of crap,” she insisted. “I feel like people really misread it and it feels like a stain on my life.”
The artist explained that the record was simply a “genre exercise” that demonstrated her capabilities as a producer.
“I just wish I could make music in a vacuum,” she explained. “It’s good to make people mad actually, I retract my statement. If you can make people mad without actually hurting anyone, that’s probably a good thing.”
Grimes has confirmed that her next album will be called ‘Miss_Anthropocene’ – let's hope it fares a bit better in the eyes of its creator…
