American superstar punks Green Day are set to launch their own version of the Rock Band game.
Green Day are now one of the biggest bands on the planet. Returning this year with their wildly ambitious concept album ’21st Century Breakdown’ the trio smashed charts and won over new fans.
Later launching their own musical, Green Day have now decided to branch out into video games. Following in the footstep of The Beatles, the punk trio have confirmed plans to launch their own version of Rock Band.
Due for release in 2010 the forthcoming game will allow fans to play tracks from throughout their 22 year history. Beginning as a punk group in California Green Day sold their early albums out of the back of their tour van.
The game is set to include venues from throughout the band’s history. Beginning with West Coast sweatpits other venues could include Milton Keynes Bowl where Green Day played one of the largest shows of their career.
Set to return to Britain in 2010 with a series of stadium shows, Green Day will also launch the Rock Band game across Playstation 3, XBox 360 and Wii consoles.
We want people to fire this up, choose their favourite Green Day tracks, and play along with us as Rock Band avatars so they can feel what it’s like to perform on stage as Green Day,” singer Billie Joe Armstrong explained to BBC Newsbeat.
Rock Band launched in 2007, and since then has grown to become one of the world’s most popular games. ‘The Beatles: Rock Band’ was released earlier this year and became an enormous success.
