The latest album by American punk types Green Day is set to act as the inspiration for a new art exhibition.
Green Day have suddenly become much bigger than a mere rock act. Languishing in the doldrums, the band’s 2004 album ‘American Idiot’ shot them to world fame after articulating the frustration many people felt with the United States government.
Since then Green Day have played some enormous tours, including a huge British show in the Milton Keynes Bowl. Playing to thousands upon thousands of people it was clear that Green Day had a rare interaction with the crowd.
Returning with their new album ’21st Century Breakdown’ the band scored a massive hit on charts around the world. A concept album split into three parts, the record continued Green Day’s dissection of modern American life.
Now it seems that ’21st Century Breakdown’ is due to act as the inspiration for a new London art exhibition.
Held at StolenSpace Gallery in Shoreditch the show is set to open on October 22nd. The exhibition is set to feature 21 pieces of art inspired by Green Day’s new album ’21st Century Breakdown’.
“We’re really excited to be associated with this incredible show,” Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong said.
“Seeing the pieces that our new album has inspired is very exciting. We feel a strong connection to that type of creative expression; we think the fans coming out will love it.” He added.
The new exhibition is set to coincide with Green Day’s forthcoming UK tour. The StolenSpace Gallery show is due to run from October 22nd to November 1st.
