Gossip Name New Album

Band make 'Music For Men'

One of the most outspoken groups on the planet are set to return when Gossip release their new album ‘Music For Men’ on June 22nd.

Formed in Olympia by lead singer Beth Ditto The Gossip’s brand of dance-punk caused a ripple in the American rock underground. Ditto’s sexuality, her weight and her outspoken nature made her an instant cult favourite, with her frenetic onstage performances making her the band’s visual focal point.

The Gossip had a massive breakthrough in 2006 with the release of their album ‘Standing In The Way Of Control’. Acclaimed by critics, the title track became an unlikely hit and spawned a massively popular Soulwax remix.

Bizarrely, few people know the origins of the track. Written in the aftermath of the United States’ governments unimplemented national legalization of same-sex marriage, the song is a riotous affirmation of civil rights.

Now signed to Music With A Twist, The Gossip are ready to return with their new album ‘Music For Men’. Recorded with legendary producer Rick Rubin at the helm, little has been heard of the new material thus far. The former Beastie Boys and Johnny Cash producer took the band down to Malibu’s Shangri La studio for the sessions.

In a statement to the NME singer Beth Ditto declared “there’s a shit-load of love songs in there.”

“Writing down the tracklisting, we had about 14 songs and seven had the world ‘love’ in the title. I had no idea I was so romantic.”

The Gossip are set to release their new album ‘Music For Men’ on June 22nd. The group will precede this with their new single ‘Heavy Cross’ which is due to be released on June 15th.
