Gorillaz Singles Collection

So that's what all the fuss was about...

Gorillaz are set to celebrate a decade together by releasing ‘The Singles Collection: 2001 – 2011’ on November 28th.

Gorillaz sit in the tradition of great pop bands. Brain stormed by flatmates Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, the band were amongst the first major pop projects to fully embrace the possibilities of new media.

Releasing their debut album in 2001, Gorillaz were seen as a novelty – a sideshow before Damon Albarn got Blur back together. Over time, though, the band established their own identity with some huge artists desperate to work with them.

2010’s ‘Plastic Beach’ featured Snoop Dogg, Mark E Smith, Lou Reed and many more as Gorillaz found acceptance from some seminal talent.

Turning ten, the cartoon group are now planning to gather each of their singles thus far on a new compilation. Due for release on November 28th, ‘The Singles Collection: 2001-2011’ will be available on CD, CD and DVD and on vinyl.

In addition to this, Gorillaz are also planning to release ‘The Singles Collection: 2001-2011’ as a pecial edition 7” box set.

Of course, ClashMusic have already run one story on Gorillaz this morning. Murdoc’s Twitter account has begun feeding fans downbeat messages, including: “Gorillaz are TEN. Ten years old, eh? T.E.N. What’s that stand for? The End is Nigh…!”

Is Murdoc just teasing fans ahead of the new release? Time will tell…
