Gorillaz have shared a new collaboration with slowthai and Slaves.
The multi-media pop collective began teasing a fresh chapter earlier this week, with fans speculating as to their next step.
Song Machine is a new means of creating and delivering music, disrupting the standard release cycle through what the band's press note terms "spontaneous episodes".
New single 'Momentary Bliss' represents the first instalment, with 2D commenting: “Hello everyone who is reading these words. I’ll keep this short because once you say things you can’t unsay them and they exist in the universe forever, like Tupperware.”
Gorillaz drummer Russel adds: “Song Machine is a whole new way of doing what we do. Gorillaz breaking the mould ‘cos the mould got old. World is moving faster than a supercharged particle, so we’ve gotta stay ready to drop.”
“We don’t even know who’s stepping through the studio next. Song Machine feeds on the unknown, runs on pure chaos. So whatever the hell’s coming, we’re primed and ready to produce like there’s no tomorrow. Y’know, just in case…”
slowthai supported Slaves at their Alexandra Palace run in London last year, with the two acts joining Gorillaz at Kong Studios.
A blistering punk-edged return, you can check out 'Momentary Bliss' below.
