Gorillaz’s planned collaboration with Comics guru Alan Moore has been shelved with Moore saying “It didn’t work out, shall we say”.
The cartoon band, masterminded by Blur’s Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewett, were to create an opera based on the life of magician John Dee with the ‘Watchmen’ creator but website Bleeding Cool spotted footage of Moore at the Magus Conference 2010 saying that the Gorillaz duo didn’t uphold their end of the agreement and the workload began growing beyond acceptable for Moore.
Meanwhile, ‘Melancholy Hill’ has been announced as the next single to be taken from Gorillaz’s ‘Plastic Beach’ album, released by Parlophone Records on July 26th.
