Mid-Eighties indie stalwarts The Wedding Present were always gleefully unfashionable. Now, bizarrely, David Gedge, of the ever-changing combo, is living in California’s movie capital, and has made a new album soaked in the sounds of LA.
“There are some references,” he says, of ‘El Ray’. “I suppose the themes are lust, jealousy, betrayal, regret, obsession, superheroes… the usual.”
Produced by Steve Albini, the album drops here on May 26th, and the band will be heading over for some British dates in late May.
