Sprightly London types Golden Silvers are due to make a swift return with their new EP ‘Please Venus’ due for release on August 24th.
Golden Silvers formed in a London indie scene dominated by skinny jeans and identikit riffs. Turning their back on the Gang Of Four copyists that litter the capital’s live venues, the band began working on their own sound.
Finding it difficult to get gigs Golden Silvers started their own club. The Bronze Club runs monthly in London and has attracted a slew of like minded pop talents including fast rising songwriter Micachu.
The band attracted the attention of hip label Young & Lost, before coming to the attention of XL Recordings. Golden Silvers’ blend of rock, blues, electro and much more marks them out as a supremely gifted group, with their early singles gaining media attention.
However no one was quite prepared for their debut album. Titled ‘True Romance’ it had more thrills than a Quentin Taratino film, with Golden Silvers packing an eclectic record collection into one handy disc.
Spawning a pair of stunning singles, it is one of the finest British albums to be released this year. In fact one Clash writer was so enamoured with ‘True Romance’ that he stuck it down as a potential for the Mercury Music Prize!

Alas Golden Silvers didn’t make the list, but they are set to follow their album with a new EP. ‘Please Venus’ is due for release on August 24th, and will be available on double white vinyl. Containing a host of new tracks, the EP comes backed with a striking new video.
Speaking on their blog the band said “We thought it would be good to develop this idea into a full music video for Please Venus… so the idea was born, to plot (roughly speaking) the day in the life of a boy going back to the sea to find his love, using the same technique..”
“It was all shot on one hectic day which involved walking into the sea fully clothed!”
Golden Silvers are set to release their new EP ‘Please Venus’ on August 24th. Tracklisting is as follows:
1. Please Venus
2. Lily The Lover
3. Locked Up My Head
4. Queen Of The 21st Century (Director’s Cut)
