New York gypsy-punks Gogol Bordello have confirmed details of their new album and an extensive British tour.
Punk and folk ain’t nothing but the same damn thing – ordinary people communicating in a simple, unpretentious fashion. From Billy Bragg to The Pogues, the latest in this lineage are Gogol Bordello.
Returning with their new album ‘Transcontinental Hustle’ Gogol Bordello are on fighting form Last year’s concert album ‘Live From Axis Mundi’ bought the band some time while they experimented in the studio.
Produced by the legendary Rick Rubin, the new album is set to be released through American Recordings. Due to hit the shops on April 26th, ‘Transcontinental Hustle’ is one of the band’s most ambitious statements to date.
Gogol Bordello’s fifth studio album, the new record was inspired by singer’s Eugene Hutz moving to Brazi. Encountering new experiences, the frontman was also reminded of his heritage and the debt he owes to Eastern European culture.
Taking on board South American rhythms, ‘Transcontinental Hustle’ became an outlet valve for the singer’s intense personal life. Eugene Hutz praised Rick Rubin’s role in the album saying “Rick inspired us to focus on the very soul entity of the song. He inspires confidence to always do your best and mature work.”
