Glows have shared new track ‘Postpunk’.
The term itself is perhaps one of the most over-used in British music, a catch-all for anything guitar-led and angular. In the hands of London experimentalists Glows, however, ‘Postpunk’ is returned to its roots as a space for inquisition, an open-ground for experimentation.
An intriguing track, the barbed sonics take on a surreal quality, while the distorted song structure seems to expand and collapse time in different parts of the song.
Taken from debut mixtape ‘LA, 1620’ – which is out this week – ‘Postpunk’ seems to expose Glows’ methodologies, all while raising further questions in the process.
Alongside the mixtape, the duo are also launching a full exhibition – also titled LA, 1620 – which launches at East London’s Fieldworks this weekend.
