Fever Ray has shared new song ‘What They Call Us’.
The new song is out now, and represents Karin Dreijer’s return to the solo project. Fever Ray have released two albums to date, with the previous LP ‘Plunge’ landing back in 2017 – a live album, recorded at London’s Troxy, followed in 2019.
A surprise return, ‘What They Call Us’ is pensive and brooding, its lyric sheet both stark and surreal. Who else could conjure a very modern form of dystopia before slipping in a reference to the “cinnamon bun in the oven”?
Crafted alongside Olof Dreijer, ‘What They Call Us’ is a gritty, almost industrial form of electronic pop, while the video was written and directed by long-time Fever Ray collaborator Martin Falck.
