GLOK and Timothy Clerkin have shared an acoustic take on their collaborative track ‘Scattered’.
The duo was actually introduced through Andrew Weatherall, a key cultural conduit who we continue to miss each passing day. GLOK is the electronic alias of Andy Bell, a guitarist and producer whose work spans shoegaze legends Ride, his solo material, and his synth-driven output.
For his part, Timothy Clerkin has navigated electronic music’s left-field for over a decade now, a mercurial and revelatory musician.
Becoming re-aquainted after Weatherall’s memorial, the two opted to keep in touch, swapping ideas and generating new music. “We didn’t discuss much in the way of direction,” says Andy. “I was having quite a creative spell at the time, to me it felt like making music was keeping me sane but when I think back, it was actually making me more insane, just in a different way.”
New album ‘Alliance’ is out now on Bytes, and their easy-going chemistry is palpable from first song to last.
Album highlight ‘Scattered’ has a wistful charm to it, and the pair opted to re-cast it in an alternative acoustic light for a special one-off session.
Recorded live-in-the-studio, ‘Scattered’ takes on a wintery hew, the spartan arrangement and frosted electronics mirroring the world outside.
