San Francisco out there rockers Girls are set to kickstart 2010 with a new single and a British tour.
Girls aren’t like other bands. Hailing from San Francisco, their lead singer grew up in the Children Of God cult where all rock and pop music was banned. Forced to make his own music, the band embody a fierce DIY ethic.
Now thankfully free of religious dogma, Girls are a tribute to free expression. The band’s debut album is subversively titled ‘Album’ and contains some sun fried rock ‘n’ roll which moves from pastoral to big hairy guitar riffs.
Gathering a devoted cult following, the band have not lost their roots in the West Coast indie rock scene. For their new single ‘Lust For Life’ Girls decided to make a video starring two of their closest friends.
The catch? The two men were engaged in – ahem – carnal activities.
Shocking their fans, Girls have proved that they are a band unafraid to bite the hand that feeds them. Now the band are set to kick start 2010 with a special new single and a raft of British tour dates.
Taken from their debut album the track ‘Morning Light’ is an ode to the beauty of California, and will get the exposure it deserves via a single release. Available from February 22nd the track will be released on seven inch and download, alongside a spectacular cover of Skeeter Davis’ ‘The End Of The World’.
