Girl Ray have unveiled their impeccable new cut 'Trouble'.
The North London four-piece – Poppy Hankin, Iris McConnell, Sophie Moss and Emily Craste – ply a fine line in endearingly ramshackle indie pop.
Reminiscent of the more direct elements of the Mouldy Peaches catalogue, or even The Pipettes or Vivian Girls, there's also a keen sense of 60s girl group at play.
New cut 'Trouble' is forthcoming on Moshi Moshi Singles Club, and it's about “apathy and hating yourself for trying to win pointless arguments in snakey ways,” say the band. “It’s about turning into someone you don't like.”
Rarely has self-loathing been so effortlessly pleasant, with that neat Kinks-esque bass-line sitting alongside gentle harmonies.
