Emerging Dutch artist GINGE has shared her debut album ‘Playing Around’ in full.
The songwriter has played a clutch of key showcase events across the Netherlands and beyond, including the pivotal Groningen-rooted festival ESNS. Merging together different strands, GINGE crafts an impish brew that moves from alt-pop to neo-soul via some Millennial R&B tropes.
A flurry of singles have carved her path, with the songwriter’s colourful approach backed by some lively in-concert performances.
Early releases such as her EPs ‘Belly’ and ‘Bummer’ won attention at home and abroad, and the emboldened artist infuses her debut album with an enormous degree of confidence.
Out now, ‘Playing Around’ may be self-effacing in its title, but the work feels assured in its intent; bubbly, vivacious songwriting, she’s worth comparing to Joy Crookes or even Lava La Rue.
Toasting the release, GINGE comments…
“Making this album has really been a playground in itself. It feels like I combined all my previously released music into one poppy neo-soul bubble with some R&B as well. It has become a playful yet intimate exploration of any type of love and attachment. I used to make it all so heavy and now I just try to make it a bit lighter, fun and whimsical.”
Tune in now.
