Gilla Band – fka Girl Band – Announce New Album ‘Most Normal’

Check out new single 'Eight Fivers'...

Gilla Band have confirmed plans for new album ‘Most Normal’.

The Irish group – formerly known as Girl Band – have a slim but excellent catalogue, matched to supremely intense live shows. A seminal experience in modern Irish music, the ground Gilla Band have broken has helped pave the wave for a new generation of groups.

New album ‘Most Normal’ is out on October 7th, and it seemingly contains traces of modern hip-hop’s DNA in its production. Ahead of the full-length, new single ‘Eight Fivers’ is online now, a blistering slice of noise rock that feels utterly distinct.

Gilla Band never miss, and the corrosive, industrial noise is melded with some surreal word play from Dara Kiely. He says the song “about 40 quid. It’s about being out of touch with modern circumstances while feeling socially limited. Never fitting in and kind of proud of it. Stuck with what I have and happy for it. Being grateful and not fashionable, self-conscious and too aware of what is lacking. Accepting that jealousy played a big role in my life but trying not to feed into it…”

Tune in below.
