Ghetts Speaks Eloquently On ‘The Kings Speech’

A discussion of race, and the Imperial legacy...

Ghetts has shared eloquent new track ‘The Kings Speech’.

The grime pioneer remains at the forefront of UK rap, with his new album ‘On Purpose, With Purpose’ slated to land on February 2nd.

Just like Santa, though, he won’t be taking Christmas off – new song ‘The Kings Speech’ appeared online in tandem with the titular broadcast.

Ghetts isn’t a fan of King Charles, though, spitting: “The only royalty we acknowledge is Diana…”

A discussion of race and identity in the UK, ‘The Kings Speech’ takes time to speak truth to power – discussing the Imperial legacy, while zeroing in on disparities in London life.

Analysing the way authorities treat young Black men – “when our kings get cuffed…” – Ghetts refuses to flinch from uncomfortable truths.

Produced by TenBillion Dreams, the accompanying video was directed by Ejiro Dafé, while animation comes from Nightwolf.

Tune in now.
