Award winning songwriter Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is to return with his third album later this year.
Real name Sam Duckworth, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is one of the most politically active songwriters of his generation. An encounter with members of the BNP turned him into a prominent anti-racist campaigner, working frequently with the charitable organisation Love Music Hate Racism.
Over the course of two albums Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly has established himself as a mature songwriting voice. Taking a break after the release of ‘Searching For The Hows And Whys’ in 2008, Sam Duckworth is now almost ready to release his third album.
Speaking to fans on his Twitter feed, the singer claimed that he was almost finished working on his new album. “I think its safe to announce that the album will be out on September 13,” Duckworth wrote.
Meanwhile, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly have updated their Facebook page to tempt fans with details of a “big tour planned for August/September, with dates to come very, very soon”.
The follow up to ‘Searching For The Hows And Whys’ the new album comes after the release of a special EP of cover versions. Released via the record store Pure Groove, the EP featured some of Duckworth’s favourite tracks given a nifty re-working.
Over the summer Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly will be attending plenty of festivals, with the singer confirming his involvement with Glastonbury. The songwriter will perform at the Leftfield Stage, curated by Billy Bragg.
Other acts confirmed to perform include Libertines singer Carl Barat, The King Blues and of course Billy Bragg himself.
Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly is set to release his new album in September.
