Georgia Gets By has shared new song ‘Happiness Is An 8 Ball’.
A new project from a familiar face, Georgia Gets By is steered by Broods’ own Georgia Nott, a songwriter who has been through some changes. Focussing on solo endeavours, her travels have taken her from LA to New York, and on to New Zealand.
Along the way, she’s sculpted a full album, with incoming LP ‘Fish Bird Baby Boy’ set to land on October 6th via Luminelle Recordings.
New single ‘Happiness Is An 8 Ball’ is a drifting, sonorous treat, with Georgia Gets By highlighting the more immersive, atmospheric sides of her work. That love of melody remains, fuelled by her “nomadic life” across different continents.
At the centre of this web of sound, ‘Happiness Is An 8 Ball’ hinges on a relationship, and the way we navigate them. Georgia says: “This song is about using unhealthy coping mechanisms in a desperate attempt to make things work with someone. When love doesn’t bind you anymore and only the pressure to live up to the expectations of a relationship keep you together, you begin to find yourself turning to other means to find the energy to be with them.”
