Melbourne songwriter Gena Rose Bruce will release her new EP ‘Lighting Up’ on September 1st.
The artist’s wonderful album ‘Deep Is The Way’ won huge acclaim, containing work of real depth and emotion. Stretching herself, some highlights included contributions from noted songwriter Bill Callahan.
Out on September 1st, ‘Lighting Up’ is trailed by a re-work of her song ‘Destroy Myself’. This new ‘Avoid Myself Orchestral Version’ finds Gena aligning with the Budapest Art Orchestra, adding a bold, widescreen take on the arrangement.
The songwriter comments…
“Bringing these songs to live again with the Budapest Art Orchestra was something pretty unique. It was all done via zoom, and we only had an hour to record with the orchestra, so a lot of preparation was done beforehand but we were so nervous about how much we could do in an hour, but it seemed to work and the end result was incredible, it’s amazing how the strings can bring such emotion to the songs.“
Tune in now.
