Assailant Arrested

More news is emerging from the Oasis camp regarding the recent onstage attack on Noel Gallagher, with the assailant apparently being arrested.

The band were onstage at the Virgin Festival in Toronto when a mystery assailant rushed the stage and bundled Noel Gallagher to the ground. Oasis were mid-way through a spectacular version of "Morning Glory" when the show was brought to halt, with brother Liam aiming a few punches at the intruder.

According to the Toronto Star newspaper the assailant is named Daniel Sullivan and is 47 - surely old enough to know better. According to a statement on the Oasis site, the band intend to charge him with assault. The statement read:

"Despite his injuries, Noel returned to the stage a few minutes later to complete the band's set but was taken to hospital after the show to be examined for a suspected fractured rib and ligament damage. The assailant was detained in police custody and will be charged with assault."

"No decision has been made regarding Tuesday's concert in London, Ontario, but fans are urged to keep checking the band's web site and local media for updates."
