Gabriel Seize has shared his debut EP ‘Prologue’ via his own imprint, Gabriel Seize Music.
A lush synth-pop offering, the Brussels-based artist takes a slick, forward-thinking spin on nostalgia. Across six tracks, the riser draws inspiration from sci-fi classics, electronica and French Touch, strengthening his collaborative process alongside the likes of Marlon B and Tristan Salvati. Spotlight track ‘Beautiful Lie’ is a magnetic listen, embellished with cutting whistles, drum loops and melodies that welcome Seize’s harmonised vocals. Visually, the track unveils some of the artist’s most ambitious work, fulfilling the role of a director and animator with retro-futuristic aesthetics.
Amassing over fifty thousand plays across streaming platforms, Seize flexes his creative autonomy as a self-taught artist. Lending his focus to storytelling, innovative designs and electronic compositions, the artist continues to carve his own path and expand in new directions.
Speaking on ‘Beautiful Lie’, Seize notes: “This song is about escaping the truth, your reality, the troubles of your life, by creating around yourself a “beautiful lie”. For the video I imagined someone travelling in a landscape that suggests love, sensuality and freedom, a world that seems to be perfect… but appears to be fake in the end, like a theatre set.” He continues, “I was inspired by many works like The Truman Show or the Belgian Comic book Walls of Samaris. What was important for me was really to feel like the main character is the only human… all the rest seems to be automatic, mechanical…etc.”
