Future Islands have shared new single ‘Glimpse’.
The Baltimore experi-pop group recently returned with their album ‘People Who Aren’t There Anymore’, and the sessions proved to be exceptionally productive.
Alongside some extensive touring, the band have dipped back into their studio tapes, retrieving a track that was initially left off the album.
Out now, ‘Glimpse’ speaks to the album’s broader themes – working with unity, as a group, each part is interlocked against the next.
Lyrically, ‘Glimpse’ is about a family home burning down, and the trauma this unleashes. The process of absorbing the erasure of personal history is channelled by Samuel T Herring’s vocal, with its dips, curves, and idiosyncrasies.
