Fuck Buttons On New Album

Weatherall sessions "intense"

Bristol based experimental two piece Fuck Buttons have described the intense recording sessions behind their new album.

Bristol has a history of producing maverick talents, groups who defy convention and break new ground. Fuck Buttons are the next in that lineage, with the band’s mixture of noise and electronica blitzing ear drums across the country.

Snapped up by ATP Recordings, the duo’s debut album ‘Street Horrrsing’ was released to rave reviews. Yet the album still didn’t quite capture the sheer visceral drama of the group’s epic live show.

On their follow up, Fuck Buttons may well have achieved this. Produced by legendary DJ and remixer Andrew Weatherall ‘Tarot Sport’ is a dizzying blend of electronica, noise and melody that seems to unfurl like a classical symphony.

In a new interview Fuck Buttons’ maestro Andrew Hung admitted that sessions were quite exacting.

“It was a really intense but extremely satisfying experience at the same time,” Hung told NME. Recorded at Rotters Golf Club Studio in London the album has already been hailed as a major breakthrough for the duo.

“Because we were having to contribute ideas and articulate them to all the parties involved we worked really closely, for really long, full days for three weeks or so. That’s why it was so intense.”

Asked why they chose Weatherall to produce the new album, Hung said that the group “were conscious of not repeating the sound on ‘Street Horrrsing'”.

Fuck Buttons are set to release ‘Tarot Sport’ on October 12th. The duo will precede this with their new single ‘Surf Solar’ which is out this week.
